(Owensboro, KY) The Greater Owensboro Chapter of FAME (GO FAME) is hosting a GO CAREERS Employer Recruitment event on Friday, March 3, at 7:30 a.m. in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Commerce Center located at 200 East Third Street in Owensboro. Prospective employers are invited to attend to learn more about the GO CAREERS accelerated work and learn format that leads to a Business Administration Systems (BAS) degree.
GO CAREERS is a company-sponsored partnership of regional employers who share the goal of creating a pipeline of highly-skilled workers with a comprehensive understanding of the operational, organizational, and managerial responsibilities of an organization. A major advantage of the GO CAREERS program is its accelerated degree path where students work a minimum of three days per week at their sponsoring company and attend industry-validated, college courses two, half days per week. Sponsoring employers can participate in every aspect of the program, from curriculum design to reinforcing classroom instruction in the work setting.
Industry representatives from the GO FAME Chapter will be on hand at the March 3rd employer recruitment event to discuss the benefits of program participation. Sponsoring employers can grow their own team of professionals who understand not only a unique job function or process, but also the organization’s overall culture and business practices.
GO FAME was the first chapter in Kentucky to launch GO CAREERS, the first non-manufacturing program option that utilizes the successful work and learn model to train the next generation of workers. While GO CAREERS is relevant for the healthcare, information technology, and financial sectors, it is also applicable to any company or organization seeking employees proficient in business administration skills. At the completion of the 18-month program, the GO CAREERS students will graduate with an associate degree transferable to accredited four-year colleges and universities. Since students earn wages for time spent on their job and sponsoring companies assist with tuition costs, this degree option is earned with little or no college debt. U.S. Bank became the inaugural employer member of GO CAREERS with an in-house cohort of incumbent workers starting coursework at OCTC in August 2016.
The second cohort for GO CAREERS will begin August 2017 and is open to all employers interested in sponsoring current or future employees for training in business administration.
