Garrick Thompson Hired to Work with New and Existing Industries

Owensboro, KY. (March 9, 2017) – The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) hires experienced economic development professional, Garrick Thompson, to work with the new and existing industries of Greater Owensboro.

I plan on being a familiar face in the business community and I look forward to working with local companies to help them grow and become more productive.”

Garrick is a native of Union County, Kentucky. He graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Marketing degree and a Master of Art in Teaching from Trevecca Nazarene University. After college, Garrick worked primarily as an elementary teacher in Nashville. In 2011, Garrick moved home to Morganfield, Kentucky and became the Director of Union County’s economic development organization, Union County First.

During Garrick’s tenure with Union County First, he was directly involved in several expansion efforts including: Breckinridge Services, River View Coal, EZ Access and Ervin Cable Construction. Also, during his time with the organization, he helped develop a new manufacturing facility, The Wood Mill, a sawmill in Sturgis, Kentucky.

Garrick is an active member of the Kentucky Association of Economic Development and has completed training in Community and Economic Development offered by the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business & Economics Executive Education Center.

Garrick began as New and Existing Industry Manager with GOEDC on March 8, 2017.
