What the Greater Owensboro EDC is doing to create jobs for Owensboro:

  1. Partner with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development to market Owensboro nationally and recruit companies to locate in Owensboro.
  2. Provide robust incentives to attract companies to Kentucky and the Greater Owensboro region.
  3. Partner with the Workforce Investment Board, the Owensboro Community and Technical College, area colleges and high schools on workforce development programs aligned to high demand jobs.
  4. Provide the following free services to entrepreneurs starting businesses through the eMerging Ventures Center for Innovation:
    • free counseling and business planning
    • funding opportunities
    • the Centre for Business and Research, an environment for entrepreneurs to grow startup businesses
  5. Existing business support program to help existing companies grow. Promote retention in legacy industries such as the aluminum.
  6. OwensboroWorks.com, a free resource to help provide skilled workers to employers. Register here for OwensboroWorks and let the job find you!
  7. Market industrial property for prospective companies in Owensboro and along the river in Hancock County.
  8. Develop a strategy with the Owensboro Riverport Authority and Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport to attract transportation, fulfillment and logistics companies using our transportation assets.
  9. Support Kentucky BioProcessing and the Owensboro Medical Health System to attract life science companies and health care professionals in the growinghealthcare and plant therapeutics industries.
  10. Create a favorable business climate through infrastructure to promote economic growth. Recent examples include highway projects such as the I-64/I-65 Corridor, downtown revitalization, and education funding such as the new WKU-O Campus.
