Garrick is a native of Union County, Kentucky. He attended Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated in 2003 with a Marketing Degree. Garrick also possesses a Master of Art in Teaching Degree from Trevecca Nazarene University (2007). After college, Garrick lived and worked in Nashville for several years, primarily as an elementary teacher.
In 2011, Garrick moved back home to Morganfield and became the Director of Union County First; Union County’s Economic Development organization. Garrick served as the director for 5 years.
As the director, Garrick spearheaded Union County’s efforts to become a Work Ready Community. He was also instrumental in the development of the local high school’s Work Ethic Seal Program. During his tenure, Garrick was directly involved in several expansion efforts including: Breckinridge Services, River View Coal, EZ Access and Ervin Cable Construction. Also, during his time with the organization, Union County First helped to springboard a new manufacturing facility, The Wood Mill, a sawmill in Sturgis, Kentucky.
Garrick is an active member of Kentucky Association of Economic Development and has completed comprehensive training in Community and Economic Development offered by the University of Kentucky’s, Gatton College of Business & Economics Executive Education Center.
In addition to his current job, Garrick has worked as a volunteer youth football coach for the past several years and is heavily involved with the youth at his church.
In his spare time he enjoys: traveling, working out, coaching, reading and watching sports.
