For those interested in recreational activities, greater Owensboro offers public parks, a year-round ice skating arena, public and private golf courses, and the Adkisson Greenbelt Park, a 15 mile paved pathway for walking, running, biking, or skating.

Sports Illustrated named Owensboro Kentucky the Number One Sports Town. Its excellent tennis courts, football and soccer complexes, and baseball and softball fields offer opportunities for thousands of young people to participate in sports and make Owensboro a prime location for tournaments of all sorts. The 5,000 seat Owensboro SportsCenter is home to the NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers basketball team--- the division II men’s team holding the most national championships. The Kentucky Bisons of the professional American Basketball Association play their home games in Owensboro at the SportsCenter.

Owensboro offers several fitness clubs, including The HealthPark and the Owensboro Family YMCA. Both facilities offer a state-of-the-art fitness center, individual and group personal training are also available, along with land and water aerobics classes. Other services include locker, shower, and towel service; a competition size pool and warm water pool, along with a gymnasium, racquetball courts and a 1/10 mile walking track.
