TRAINING FUNDS
Bluegrass State Skills Corp. -
There are two ways to receive training incentives through this program: Grants or Tax Credits.
The BSSC grant program is available to new, expanding and existing business and industry. Eligible training activities include pre-employment skills training and assessment; entry-level skills upgrade and occupational upgrade training; train-the-trainer travel; and capacity building.
The Skills Training Investment Credit Act provides credits to existing businesses for skills upgrade training to develop a skilled workforce. It allows companies to recover fifty percent (50%) of their approved costs for occupational and skills upgrade training costs through an income tax credit limited to $500 per Kentucky resident employed not to exceed $100,000 per company per biennium.
KYWINS - Kentucky Workforce Investment Network System -
KYWINS is a workforce training incentive program administered by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. The goal of the KY WINS initiative is to provide high-level transferable technical skills training to existing and new industries and businesses that are creating high paying jobs for Kentucky's citizens. The program can provide up to 75% of the costs for training, assessing, and job profiling services. Most programs result in college credit being awarded or a credential. Staff consists of a statewide network of KYWINS Training Consultants and Community and Economic Development Coordinators.
Eligible companies include: 1) existing Kentucky companies who are expanding and creating new jobs 2) existing Kentucky companies who are requiring employees to learn new skills in order to retain their jobs, and 3) new companies who are contributing to Kentucky's economic development.
