Downtown Owensboro Inc., in partnership with the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) and the City of Owensboro, is excited to announce the Downtown Small Biz Crawl, happening on Thursday, May 22 during National Small Business Month.
This new event invites the community to shop, dine, and explore all that downtown Owensboro has to offer while celebrating the power of small businesses. Participating businesses within the Downtown Overlay District can register to be included on the official crawl map at www.edc.owensboro.com/crawl.
Businesses outside the district are also encouraged to join in the fun by collaborating with a downtown business to host a pop-up shop or activation for the evening. Interested businesses can connect directly with downtown owners or reach out to GOEDC for help facilitating partnerships.
Attendees who shop or dine downtown during the crawl can submit receipts from participating businesses for a chance to win one of several cash prizes. Receipts may be turned in at the Hampton Inn Riverfront anytime on May 22 or by 10 a.m. on Friday, May 23. Each receipt counts as an entry for:
- One $500 Grand Prize
- Five $100 Cash Prizes
Winners will be drawn live the following day.
In addition to great shopping and dining, the event will feature live music throughout downtown, including a WBKR live remote from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring Chad and MKat. A full list of musical performances will be announced soon.
“We’re working to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere all day and all night long, with music on multiple blocks and something for everyone,” said Tamarra Brasher, owner of Brasher’s Lil Nashville and live music coordinator for the event. “There’s no better backdrop than downtown Owensboro—and this event gives folks a reason to explore it all.”
Special photo ops and social media challenges will also be set up downtown, offering even more ways to win and share the experience using designated hashtags.
