GOEDC and Sprocket to Host Free Lunch & Learn for Aspiring Entrepreneurs July 16

The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC), in partnership with Sprocket, will host Build What Works, a free one-hour lunch and learn for aspiring entrepreneurs on Wednesday, July 16, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Old National Bank Building, located at 123 West Fourth Street in downtown Owensboro.

This event is designed for individuals in the Owensboro area who are exploring business ownership or seeking to turn a promising idea into a real venture. Attendees will hear from startup coach John Truitt, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Sprocket, and walk away with actionable tools from the Market Fit Lab, a program that helps founders validate their ideas, better understand their customers, and build the foundation for sustainable growth. Lunch will be catered by Fetta Pizza, and space is limited to 30 participants.

While Sprocket is based in Paducah, the nonprofit innovation hub supports entrepreneurs across Western Kentucky. As one of the state’s six Kentucky Innovation Hubs, Sprocket offers programming, mentorship, and resources to help startups at every stage, particularly those outside major metro areas. Through initiatives like the Market Fit Lab and events like Build What Works, Sprocket is working to build a thriving regional startup ecosystem, and GOEDC is proud to bring that energy to Owensboro.

“Entrepreneurship is essential to a strong and vibrant local economy, and we’re seeing more and more people in our region explore it as a path forward,” said Claude Bacon, President and CEO of GOEDC. “We appreciate our partnership with Sprocket and the opportunity to bring their expertise and tools to Owensboro. This event is designed to help individuals take the next step, connect with others, and get the guidance they need to start something of their own.”

Participants will also receive information on how to apply for the next Owensboro-based Market Fit Lab cohort launching later this year. The event is free to attend, but registration is required at sprocketwky.com/rsvp.
