Renovation Funding Complete for The Landing Entrepreneurship and Coworking Center in Downtown Owensboro

[Owensboro, KY., – October 23, 2026] The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) announced today that funding is complete for the renovation estimate for The Landing Entrepreneurship Center, a three-floor coworking and entrepreneurship hub planned for the historic Turley Building at 101 Daviess Street in downtown Owensboro. A $2,000,000 pledge from the City of Owensboro and $1,550,000 pledge from Daviess County Fiscal Court joins the $2.25 million in state project funding The Landing received through Kentucky’s 2026–28 state budget, announced in July. Together, the investments fully fund the $5,800,000 renovation and buildout. The Turley Building is owned by the City of Owensboro and connected to the RiverPark Center.

The Landing will offer flexible coworking space, private startup offices, meeting rooms and collaborative work areas for entrepreneurs, remote professionals and growing businesses. It will also house the office of the Kentucky Small Business Development Center, putting business coaching, technical assistance and access to capital under one roof. An executive director will oversee operations and mentor members, and GOEDC plans pitch competitions, workshops, networking events and entrepreneurial training.

Design and construction planning are underway with Hafer Architectural, with construction expected to begin in early 2027 and an opening targeted for late 2028.

”I’m proud to stand here today and announce that The Landing renovation estimate of $5,800,000 is fully funded.” said Claude Bacon, President/CEO of Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation. “The Landing will be a true home for entrepreneurs, small business, and innovators. It will be a place where someone with an idea and a laptop can find a desk, a mentor, a network, and a path to building a business right here.” “It will offer a modern coworking space for remote workers, freelancers, and growing teams who want a professional home. And it will be a powerful tool for talent attraction, because today’s workforce is rapidly evolving,” added Bacon. “When young professionals and remote workers look at Owensboro and Daviess County, we want them to see a community with the energy, connections, and opportunity to build a career and a life.”

“One exciting thing about this project is the opportunity to take the historic Turley Building that has been vacant and give it new life and a new purpose. We know that a thriving downtown is built one investment at a time. When we give new life to existing buildings and create destinations that give people a reason to come downtown, we build momentum for additional growth, development, and revitalization throughout our community.” said City of Owensboro Commissioner Curtis Maglinger.

“The Landing is about more than creating a physical space. It’s about investing in people, ideas, and the next generation of entrepreneurs who will help shape the future of our region. By bringing resources, business support, and opportunities for collaboration under one roof, we’re creating an environment where people can turn ideas into reality, grow their businesses, and see a future for themselves right here in Western Kentucky.” Said Representative Suzanne Mills.

Judge Executive Charlie Castlen said, “We are proud to be a partner in this project and grateful to everyone who has helped bring this vision forward. The Landing is an investment not only in entrepreneurship, but in the long-term economic strength and future of our entire region.”

The Landing is expected to increase daily activity and foot traffic for downtown restaurants, retailers and businesses.
