Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp (GOEDC)

About the Role

GOEDC is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Director of Marketing and Special Projects to lead storytelling and brand efforts that promote Owensboro/Daviess County as a premier destination for business investment, workforce talent, and community growth.

This position blends strategic marketing expertise with hands-on content creation, playing a key role in how our community’s economic development story is told to site selectors, businesses, workforce audiences, and the public.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building a digital campaign as they are behind a camera capturing footage for a promotional video. Someone who can conceive an idea and execute it from concept to final product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels, including social media, website content, email marketing, print collateral, advertising, and public relations materials
  • Plan, shoot, and edit photography and video content for use in marketing campaigns, social media, presentations, and website/media assets
  • Manage organizational social media accounts, including content calendars, community engagement, and performance analytics
  • Design and produce print materials such as brochures, one-pagers, signage, and event materials
  • Support communications for economic development initiatives, business recruitment efforts, and community promotion
  • Maintain brand consistency across all internal and external materials
  • Collaborate with leadership, board members, and community partners to align messaging with organizational goals and community priorities
  • Track and report on marketing performance metrics to guide future strategy
  • Support event marketing and promotion, including on-site photo/video coverage as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in both digital marketing (social media, email, web content, analytics) and traditional marketing (print production, media relations, advertising)
  • Working knowledge of photography and video production, including basic editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Canva, or similar tools)
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging across platforms
  • Proficiency with social media management and scheduling tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with community stakeholders, business leaders, and elected officials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in economic development, tourism, chamber of commerce, or destination marketing
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign)
  • Photography/videography experience
  • Graphic design experience

What We’re Looking For

Someone who takes pride in representing our community well. A self-starter who can generate creative ideas, execute them independently, and represent the organization professionally in the field, at events, and in front of a camera or lens.
